Guru Nanak Institute of Technology shortly called as GNIT is one among the JIS Group of Colleges and the college came into existence in the year 2003 and the institute is located in a sprawling campus of 7 acres of land with a built in area of 17,289 square meters. The institute has earned accreditation from the NBA (National Board of Accreditation); (AICTE) All India Council for Technical Education and it is affiliated to the West Bengal University of Technology. Intake Capacity of the institution:
Guru Nanak Institute of Technology is approved with an intake capacity of 60 seats each for UG courses, except for B. Tech in Computer Science & Engineering course for which the institute is approved to admit 120 students. For MBA and MCA courses, the institute is approved with an intake capacity of 60 students per year, while for each branch of Master of Technology course, the intake capacity is 18 students per year.
Admission Procedure:
Admission of students to the engineering degree courses offered by the Guru Nanak Institute of Technology is done strictly according to the guidance of the West Bengal University of Technology. For admission to the B. Tech courses, candidates must possess valid West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination/All India Engineering Entrance Examination score and allotment of seat will be through central selection counseling. For M. Tech courses admission is done based on valid GATE score and admission test conducted by the JIS Group of colleges. For MBA admission is done based on valid WBJEMAT/MAT score and for MCA course admission is based on valid WBJECA score followed by GD and PI.
Eligibility for admission:
For seeking admission to the UG courses offered by GNIT, candidates must be Indian citizens and must have passed or appeared in the higher secondary examination in vocational or general stream from the Council of Higher Secondary Education of the state of West Bengal or its equivalent examination from a recognized board or university. In addition, candidates must have studied English as a subject at the 10+2 level. For M. Tech courses, candidates must have completed their B.E/B. Tech/AMIE in appropriate discipline with not less than 60% of marks.
